MaldivesTouristGuide.com is a small, independent introduction service. We help travellers connect directly with pre-screened Maldivian travel agencies. We are not a travel agency ourselves, we do not arrange bookings, and we do not handle payments on behalf of resorts or agencies.
When you use our service, you share trip details with us so that we can identify and introduce you to a suitable agency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
2. What information we collect
We collect only the information needed to match you with the right agency. This is gathered during a short conversation, typically via WhatsApp or Telegram.
2.1 Trip details you provide
- Travel dates or preferred travel window
- Approximate budget
- Number of travellers
- Preferred region, atoll, or resort (if you have one)
- Specific requirements or must-haves (for example: overwater villa, all-inclusive package, family-friendly facilities)
- Any agency or resort you already have in mind
2.2 Contact and billing information
- Name
- WhatsApp or Telegram contact details
- Email address (if an invoice is sent)
- Payment information (handled by our card-payment provider; we do not store card details ourselves)
2.3 Automatically collected information
When you browse our website, standard server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We do not use third-party analytics cookies or tracking pixels.
3. How we use your information
We use your information solely to deliver the introduction service:
- To assess your trip and determine which pricing tier applies (Simple, Standard, or Complex).
- To research and contact a few pre-screened Maldivian agencies on your behalf.
- To clarify quotes and translate industry terminology before presenting options to you.
- To make the introduction between you and the agency we believe is the best fit.
- To send an invoice for our fixed fee, via a secure online payment link.
- To follow up if something feels off after the introduction, or to refine the search if needed.
We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to the service you requested.
4. Who we share your information with
4.1 Maldivian travel agencies
The core of our service is sharing your trip requirements with a small number of pre-screened Maldivian agencies so they can prepare a quote. We share only what is necessary for them to understand your trip:
- Your travel dates, budget, number of travellers, and preferences
- Your name and contact details, so the agency can reach you directly after the introduction
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with agencies outside our pre-screened network.
4.2 Payment processor
When you pay our fixed fee, your card details are processed by a secure third-party payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
4.3 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
5. How long we keep your information
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the service and meet any legal or accounting obligations:
- Active service period: from initial contact until the introduction is complete and any follow-up is resolved.
- Post-service retention: up to two years for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
- Payment records: retained for the period required by applicable tax and financial regulations.
You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 7).
6. Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information:
- Conversations via WhatsApp and Telegram are protected by the end-to-end encryption provided by those platforms.
- Invoices and payment links are sent through secure, encrypted channels.
- We do not store payment card details on our own servers.
- Access to your trip information is limited to the person handling your request.
No online transmission or storage system is completely secure, but we follow reasonable industry practices to safeguard your data.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

8. Cookies and tracking
Our website does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts. Any cookies are limited to basic technical functionality required for the site to operate.
9. International data transfers
Your information may be shared with Maldivian travel agencies located in the Maldives. By using our service, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer, which is necessary for us to perform the introduction service.
10. Children's privacy
Our service is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
